Is It Time For A Good Laugh?

TRY FOUR DAY WEEKEND!

Glamorous Sundance Square offers shops, restaurants, and if you like, four live improvisational comedy shows every weekend.

The actors of Four Day Weekend are probably familiar faces to you, whether you know it or not. They appear in national and local commercials, make films, do standup, teach improv classes, and conduct corporate workshops. They are David Ahearn, David Wilk, Oliver Tull, Frank Ford, and Joshua Roberts. Ray Sharp is the musical director -- each show includes a live, spontaneous score.

The early show at 7:30 p.m. is a very different experience from the 10 p.m. showing, mostly because the audience is a little more lubricated the later it gets. At both shows, the actors perform a mix of improv driven entirely by audience suggestions and sketches helped along with audience input.

In one bit, an actor reads from a copy of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and asks the audience to call out page numbers. He reads the headlines from the corresponding page, and then the rest of the troupe develops a scene based on those stories.

In another, an audience member is spotlighted and asked his or her name, favorite store, and occupation. These tidbits are then incorporated into a parody of the TV show "Cops," with a break-in at the audience member's favorite store.

But the theater and its employees don't just work on weekend nights. The Four Day Weekend Training center offers four levels of classes in improv performance, sketch writing, and sketch performance.

Friday July 9, 4:00p - 12:00a

July 9 - 11

At Fair Park, Dallas, Tx

Beat The Heat at this year's edition of Taste of Dallas. The move to Fair Park gives the event a ton of indoor air-conditioned space in addition to activities along Esplanade. More than 50 restaurants are participating in the three-day fest, which has plenty to keep adults and kids entertained.

Food gets a lot of indoor play with indoor cooking demos (including free samplings of recipes) by notable area chefs, such as Scott Romano, David Bull, and Jason Boso; wine and beer tastings; and 60 Second Taste Test Challenge. Food samplings range from $1-$3.

The fest, which benefits the American Heart Association, will have an area devoted to heart health with free health screenings.

Bring the kids for kid friendly food, bounce house, games, and photos with the likes of Clifford, Curious George, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and members of the School of Rock.

A variety of acts enhance the live-music lineup, which includes, Le Cure, the Quebe Sisters Band, and the Old 97's. Head to the indoor Artist Enclave to check out works by local artists as well as the creation of live art.

Something you can do to help.

3 Easy Things You Can Do Today to Help with the Gulf Coast Oil Spill

1. Buy Dawn

2. Find a Salon or Groomer that donates hair clipping to oil spill relief efforts.

The next time you find yourself saying, 'Man, I need a haircut," or "The dog needs to be shaved,"...find a salon or groomer that donates to Matter Of Trust. Matter Of Trust is a non-profit out of San Francisco that collects boxes of hair from around the country to make boom and oil spill mats to pick-up oil. Fantastic Sams is a salon chain that claims to donate to Matter Of Trust. Petropoliton is a dog grooming salon in Dallas that has donated over 500 lbs of hair!

To view the article about their salon click here.

You can also view videos on how these hair donations are turned into "hair booms" to be used in the gulf. 20 pounds of hair can soak up 200 pounds of oil!!

Matter Of Trust is collecting more than just hair, if you would like to make an alternate donation to them please visit their website here.

You can see the Matter Of Trust Video here.

3. Make a monetary donation to a trusted agency
(We recommend the Greater New Orleans Foundation)
Things to know before you donate your money:
1. 100% of donations to the Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund will be granted to organizations working tirelessly in the effected areas. Our focus is to help fisherman and their families in the following parishes: Plaquemines, St. Bernard, lower Jefferson, Terrbonne, and Lafourche.
2. Visit the website for the Greater New Orleans Foundation
3. The Greater New Orleans Foundations, administer of the Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund, is a 501 (c) 3 organization. We have the highest rankings possible on Charity Navigator and we're accredited by the Council on Foundation.
4. Proceeds can be sent by check to : Greater New Orleans Foundation/Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund at 1055 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130. You will receive a gift of acknowledgement letter for tax purposes.
5. Post this on facebook or your website!
6. Please know we are extremely grateful for your partnership. You ARE MAKING A DIFFERECE!!!!
If you would like to learn more about the Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund,
please call Josephine Everly at (504) 598- 4663 or josephine@gnof.org
If you are interested in volunteer opportunities please contact
Woody Hosler at Volunteers of America

The Koester Team is always thinking of ways that we can help our nation and the environment. We do have family in the gulf region and can guarantee that all information provided about donations and volunteerism are through quality agencies dedicated to the oil spill recovery and clean up.
